I am an artist/photographer based in Kenmare, County Kerry in Ireland, currently studying for my BA in Visual Art through Dublin IT on Sherkin Island, West Cork .
My artwork is inspired by the light and clarity of the natural landscapes surrounding my home on the Wild Atlantic Way. Expressing the natural beauty of this corner of the world, I paint and draw using watercolours, acrylics, pencil and charcoal on a variety of papers and canvas, usually from life or photographs I have taken on location.
Colour is important to me as I portray the landscape in a personal way revealing the communication I find in nature through a rich and varying palette. The atmospheric perspective and contrasts of the Kerry hillsides and seascapes vie with the intricate details of a windswept beach or the rampant overgrown hedgerow of a country lane.
Colours and tones fuse together in my work revealing the depths and beauty of the world around me. From the small berries on the rosebush outside my window, to the wild freedom of an Atlantic sunset across the Bay I try and capture nature’s delicate artistry and allure.
